Zuckerzauber Auftragskonditorei Inhaberin Franziska Welsch

Zuckerzauber Auftragskonditorei Inhaberin Franziska Welsch

Meet Franziska: The Sugar Whisperer of Zuckerzauber

Deep in the heart of Berlin, there's a little bakery that's anything but little. It's called Zuckerzauber, and it's run by a woman with a magic touch, Franziska Welsch.

Franziska isn't your average baker. She's an Auftragskonditorin, which is a fancy word for a pastry chef who takes on special orders. But she's not just any pastry chef. She's a sugar whisperer, a confectionery conjurer, a cake enchantress.

Franziska can turn a simple sheet of sugar into a shimmering waterfall, or a humble egg into a towering, edible masterpiece.

Her journey began like many of ours, with a love for sweets. As a child, she'd spend hours in the kitchen, watching her grandmother make Streuselkuchen and Schokoladentorte. But Franziska's love went beyond just eating them. She wanted to create them, to make people smile with every bite.

Must Read

Years later, after studying her craft and working in some of Berlin's best bakeries, Franziska decided to strike out on her own. She opened Zuckerzauber, a place where she could let her imagination run wild.

From Weddings to Wonders

Franziska's orders range from the traditional to the truly extraordinary. She's made cakes for weddings, birthdays, and even a few funerals (yes, you can have a cake at a funeral, and it can be a celebration of life!). But it's her special projects that really set her apart.

Once, a customer asked her to create a life-sized Eisheilige (Ice Saint) cake for a winter festival. Franziska didn't bat an eye. She spent days carving ice-cold sugar into the shape of a saint, complete with a frosty halo and a dress made of shimmering, edible pearls.

Another time, a museum commissioned her to create a cake replica of their newest exhibit, a ancient Greek temple. Franziska spent weeks researching, sketching, and sculpting, until she had a cake that was not just a work of art, but a work of history.

Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice

But Franziska's magic isn't just about creating stunning cakes. It's about creating moments. She loves to see the joy on her customers' faces when they see their vision come to life. She loves to hear the laughter and the "oohs" and "aahs" when she unveils a cake at a party.

She's even been known to deliver cakes herself, just to see the look on the recipient's face. "It's like giving a present to a child on Christmas morning," she says, laughing. "I can't help but feel a little of that joy myself."

So, if you're ever in Berlin and you find yourself craving something sweet, something magical, something that'll make your taste buds dance and your heart smile, head to Zuckerzauber. Ask for Franziska. Tell her what you're dreaming of, and watch as she turns your dreams into reality, one sugar-spun wonder at a time.
