Let's start our day like a true Kölner. You know what they say, "Morgenstund hat Gold im Mund" - the morning hour has gold in its mouth. So, we're up early, grabbing a fresh Brötchen (that's a roll to you and me) from the local bakery. Mmm, the smell of fresh bread is enough to make your taste buds dance!

Rheinschifffahrt mit einer Prise Abenteuer

After breakfast, we're off to the Rhein for a spot of Rheinschifffahrt - a river cruise. Now, I know what you're thinking, "That sounds a bit boring, doesn't it?" Well, let me tell you, this is no ordinary cruise. Our captain, Kapitän Klaus, is a local legend. He's got more stories than a bookshop, and he's not afraid to share them. Today, he's telling us about the time he saw a Nixe (that's a mermaid to you and me) swimming alongside the boat. I know, I know, it sounds far-fetched, but Kapitän Klaus swears it's true!

Now, I'm not saying I believe in mermaids, but I'm not not saying I don't either.

Kölner Karneval ist zurück!

Suddenly, the sound of music fills the air. It's the unmistakable rhythm of the Kölner Karneval! You might think it's too early for a party, but not in Köln. The city's been buzzing with excitement all morning, and now, the party's in full swing. We hop off the boat and join the crowd, dancing and singing along. Today's theme? "Kölle Alaaf" - a traditional cry of joy and unity. It's infectious, and before we know it, we're shouting it at the top of our lungs too!

All this dancing has worked up a thirst, so we pop into our favorite brewery, Gaffel am Dom. The Dom (that's the Cologne Cathedral to you and me) is just across the square, and the sun's casting a golden glow over its stunning architecture. We grab a Kölsch (that's a type of beer, for those not in the know) and clink glasses with the locals. "Prost!" we cheer, and the day just keeps on getting better.

Feeling a bit more cultured now, we decide to pop into the Museum Ludwig. Today's the day they've been waiting for - the arrival of a new exhibit.
